Beginning a Brand the Right Way

Vault Haircare is a cosmetics startup based right here in Kelowna, BC, Canada. When we met with Vault Haircare's founder Tara, she was in the process of developing a natural line of haircare products based on her own experience as a hairdresser. What she didn't have experience with was branding. Tara knew what she liked and disliked, but didn't know how to put her ideas together to form a brand. We helped her identify her target market and explore brand concepts before working with her to develop a brand and package design she — and her future customers — would love.

THe SOLUTION

There's a big difference between knowing what you want and explaining what you want. Part of our branding process includes helping our clients find the right words, ideas, and imagery to describe their own brand. We consulted with Tara about her business, goals, and personality to understand what Vault's branding needed to reflect. Next, we showed her three directions we believed would suit her brand, and asked her to select one for further development. We worked closely with her to finalize a vibrant floral design with a bold wordmark that looks great everywhere. Once that was done, we developed packaging design and a microsite to generate interest in her upcoming product launch.

  • Packaging designs utilize the brand's full potential, using mirrored colour palettes to visual distinguish between the flagship shampoo and conditioner
  • Microsite (launching Summer 2020) heavily features product imagery and seamlessly applies brand standards to digital content

THe RESULTS

Vault's brand was developed from start to finish within 8 weeks and approved without major revisions. Vault intends to release its first products for online sales by the end of 2020.
